Shippou ~ Adopted!!!

Shippou went to his new home in Villa Park, IL on Tuesday, February 7th, 2006.

Birthday: August 14th, 2004
Date Entered Rescue: February 6th, 2006
Adoption Date: February 7th, 2006

I picked Cody up from the local animal shelter where his previous owners had dropped him off after they had baby and realized that they did not have the time to care for him.  While he was in the shelter he was too stressed out to eat, and thus lost about 10 lb.  After picking him up I renamed him Shippou (yes THAT Shippou) and took him directly to the vet.  He checked out completely healthy outside of the weight issue, so we just got him UTD on vaccinations.  I then brought him home.

Shippou got along from the beginning with the entire pack.  He played with Kiba, Duo and Sora.  Even though Kitsu screamed in his ear all he did was walk away.  I knew we had a well adjusted dog on our hands.  The unfortunate part of all this was that since we were dealing with Sora's medical issues we didn't have the time to devote to Shippou's training that he desperately needed.  He had no manners whatsoever and didn't even know "sit."  As sad as we were to loose this boy so quickly, we planned to take him to a new foster home the next day.

Sarah and Bob were our first home visit ever.  In March 2005 they adopted Saki from MSIR.  Since then they have wanted to become foster parents as well.  When they got their first foster Jazz it was a very sad and unfortunate situation for all involved.  The family that surrendered him to MSIR had lied about his temperament and we came to find out that they had severely abused him.  The training facility they took him to had actually recommended to the owners that they put him down, but instead they managed to get him into MSIR's care.  It broke everyone's hearts but MSIR made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize him.  Sarah and Bob took this pretty hard and weren't sure they would foster again, that is until they heard about Shippou.

They offered to foster him for us, and when we brought him there Tuesday, February 7th they fell in love with him right away.  He tried to sniff one of the cats and after a good swat in the nose didn't bother them again.  When they tested him with Saki the two got along wonderfully.  We got an email the next day saying that they wouldn't be able to give him up!  This is my fastest placement ever and Shippou couldn't have gone to a better home!
